Open plan living area at The Studio in Clarens

Services

Self-catering,
not self-service.

The apartments are yours entirely. But there is a host downstairs, and quite a lot we can take off your hands.

Free uncapped WiFi

The password is next to the DSTV decoder. Uncapped, and fast enough to work from the patio if you must.

Premium DSTV bouquet

The full package in both apartments — every channel, including sport.

Solar power and backup water

Solar with inverter backup, gas stove and geysers, and Jojo backup water tanks. Load shedding and municipal water interruptions pass you by.

Daily housekeeping on request

Servicing is R100 per day. Stay three nights or longer and free servicing is included every third day. Book it with Alastair or Michelle.

Laundry

Laundry can be done on site by special request, or dropped at Clarens Laundry in the village.

Linen, towels and amenities

Fine linen, Mungo towels and Cape Island amenities. Electric blankets in winter, a cotton quilt and summer duvet when it is warm, and blockout curtains so you can lie in.

Patio and braai

Both apartments have a private patio with a Weber. Charcoal and firelighters are up to you — the village shops stock them.

Coffee, tea and groceries

We supply basic tea and coffee. Everything else is self-catering, so pack your groceries. Buy freshly roasted beans from Highlands Coffee and plunge your own, and drive to Bethlehem for a big shop.

Secure parking

Off-street parking behind a motorised gate, right beside your door. Park once and walk the village.

Easy self check-in

Clear arrival instructions sent before you travel. Guests consistently tell us check-in and check-out are effortless.

A host who answers

The thing guests mention most often. Message us about restaurant bookings, hiking permits, activities or anything that comes up mid-stay, and you will get a real answer quickly.

Standards

Spotless is the baseline.

The word guests use more than any other is “spotless”. Here is what sits behind it.

  • Surfaces and frequently touched objects are sanitised between stays
  • Once an apartment is cleaned it is locked, and nobody enters before you
  • Laundry is washed at the highest temperature setting
  • Used linen is bagged in the room, kept apart from clean linen
  • Linen and towels are rotated with spare sets
  • Kitchens are checked and restocked with basics before every arrival

Ask us

We will make the call for you.

Clarens is small, and we know everybody. Tell us what you would like to do and we will book it: a table on a busy Saturday, a hiking permit and a conservancy map, a rafting slot on the Ash River, a spa treatment, a horse ride, or a gas cylinder for The Studio’s fireplace.

Over peak weekends and festival dates, restaurants fill up well in advance. Message us before you travel rather than after you arrive.
